Please find below specific updates on the construction activities at Sterling Road:
We are aware that there is quite a bit of dust, vibrations and noise currently. We are mitigating wherever possible and tracking where necessary. To mitigate dust, we are applying water to the soil when the ground is dry. To track vibrations, we have installed monitors which send constant notifications, and alert us when measurements exceed the allowable levels. The bulk of the work causing dust and vibrations will be taking place throughout the remainder of June, July and part of August, so it is likely the current conditions will persist throughout that time period.
Sterling Subdivision Improvements
Work on the Subdivision Improvement, specifically the realignment of Perth and the creation of the new West Toronto Rail Path connection, will begin in earnest in the coming weeks. In preparation for that work, the trees immediately south of Perth Avenue were removed.
The first phase of construction will be the remediation of soils south of Perth Avenue. This excavation, removal of soil, and backfill will ensure the future West Toronto Railpath connection and Perth Avenue will be free from contamination.
Because of this work, the temporary WTRP connection that was created just south of the new townhomes on Perth Avenue will be temporarily closed for up to 3 months. Access to the WTRP will still be available via Bloor Street and Dundas Street. The temporary signage installed directing people to this access point will be removed to avoid any confusion with residents.
T3 Sterling Road Buildings
Additional temporary hoarding (fencing/walls) have been installed onsite for safety reasons to secure the site. A process is underway to procure and install graphics/artwork on the hoarding to make it more attractive during construction.
We have recently received our permit to begin excavation. As such, drilling of caissons will commence in the coming weeks to facilitate excavation for the buildings and the future parking garage.
Thanks
